Nine different cities over the years have served as the capital of the U.S. The delegates could not decide what city was best fit for the capital, so it moved... a lot. The capital changed nearly every year. Lancaster, PA only lasted for 3 days! Eventually they came to the conclusion of D.C. in 1800, the reason for this was that it was accessible and central in relation to the country.
